Job Description

The SOFTWARE INTEGRATION ENGINEER is an integral person in helping our customer’s vision for an automated storage solution from Movu US come to life. The core objective is to lead the project execution effort in connecting Movu’s technology to our customers’ software controls.

Solutions: Fully automated storage solutions including pallet shuttles (atlas), tote shuttles (eScala), as well as automated mobile robots (iFollow) and ancillary systems such as conveyors and lifts.

Customers: End users are located throughout the United States and Canada. We work with many of the leading integrators as our Sales partners.

Typical project size: 1-30M

 

As our SOFTWARE INTEGRATION ENGINEER, you…

  • integrate our proprietary material handling equipment with our customers’ warehouse control system (WCS) or warehouse execution system (WES), and/or manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • ensure all proposed solutions meet rigorous industry standards and safety regulations
  • offer technical support and expertise during the project lifecycle
  • ensure Movu PLC software and aSTC software work together smoothly
  • validate WCS/WMS REST API interfaces and TCP/IP interfaces
  • engage with integrators for API support and participate in software integration testing during project commissioning
  • provide necessary documentation for all provided systems and components
  • develop new software taking warehouse file design into account
  • design systems with an APIs first architectural approach
  • lead pilot studies and proof-of-concept tests to validate the effectiveness of robotic applications in client settings
  • prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on project status and strategic recommendations to senior management and clients
  • lead efforts in developing the software functional specification document
  • program new PLC code for automation of lifts and conveyors (Metafora)
  • implement visualization and manual control modes using Siemens equipment
  • conduct on-site programming and configuration of robotics and automation systems
  • design safety programming to comply with site safety regulations
  • integrate I/O linking signals into PLC and safety code
  • conduct input/output (I/O) testing to verify system functionality
  • drive automation integrated testing with Robotics Commissioning team and WCS/WES integrator
  • troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing hands-on support as needed
  • collaborate with clients and internal teams to resolve discrepancies during project execution
  • conduct operational testing during SAT and Go Live to meet customer’s acceptance criteria
  • document the software execution process including test results and resolutions
  • collaborate with the product development team to suggest improvements
  • provide post-installation software support and maintenance for ongoing system performance
  • conduct training sessions for clients, ensuring they understand and can effectively use the technologies deployed
  • stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements in robotics and warehouse automation to continuously refine sales strategies and solutions

Technical

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Multiple years of experience in the material handling/warehousing industry working with WCS or WES is strictly required
  • Multiple years of experience in a software execution focused role in robotics, automation, or related technologies is required
  • Proficient in programming with Python, C++, Java, .NET, and C#
  • Skilled in robotic system design, testing, and implementation
  • Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Knowledge of IoT, machine learning, and I in the context of industrial automation and robotics would be a nice to have

Practical

  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites a few times a year during startup. Depending on the size of the project, the time spent on site is usually 3-5 weeks. Efforts are made to get everyone home on the weekend or offer an informal On-Call Day when away for 2 weeks or longer. Besides training (see below), travel will be throughout the United States and occasionally to Canada
  • For training, you get to travel to our headquarters in Belgium for approximately 2-3 weeks on 1-2 occasions
  • We work closely with our European colleagues. The morning hours are the most important so we can connect with them while our business hours overlap across time zones. Our business hours are 8 am – 5 pm CST but hours when you travel may vary based on site requirements/restrictions.
