As part of stow Group and over the span of more than 40 years, we’ve grown into a company with 10 manufacturing facilities, 19 commercial offices, and the know-how of around 2000 employees serving customers in 40 countries.

Job Description

The PROCUREMENT MANAGER is an integral person in helping projects to be profitable as our customer’s vision for an automated storage solution from Movu US comes to life. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the President of Movu US.

Solutions: Fully automated storage solutions including pallet shuttles (atlas), tote shuttles (escala), automated mobile robots (ifollow), as well as ancillary systems such as conveyors and lifts.

Customers: End users are located throughout the United States and Canada. We work with many of the leading integrators as our Sales partners.

Typical project size: 5-30M

As our PROCUREMENT MANAGER, you…

  • build supplier relationships and build business cases for strategic supplier choices
  • are responsible for purchasing
    • material handling equipment such as lifts and conveyors
    • components for the assembly of robots
    • electrical and mechanical items needed at assembly sites
  • create benchmarks, make total cost analyses and negotiate pricing & conditions
  • create purchase orders in SAP
  • process and follow all orders within SAP

Technical

  • Proven ability to purchase electrical and mechanical equipment and components
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of purchasing experience within an industrial environment; ideally from the automation or material handling industries
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with an ERP system (ideally SAP S/4HANA) is advantageous
  • Professional communication skills to interact with clients at various levels of an organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is a plus but 5+ years of relevant work experience within an industrial company is sufficient.

Practical

  • You live in commuting distance to our office in Romeoville, IL
  • You’re willing and able to travel to suppliers or project sites occasionally (around 10%)
  • Possibly travel to our headquarters in Belgium (usually no more than 2 weeks for international visits)
  • We work closely with our European colleagues. The morning hours are the most important so we can connect with them while our business hours overlap across time zones. Business hours are 8 am – 5 pm CST and some people like to start their workday earlier to also head home at a time when traffic is manageable.
