The Operations Director will oversee and optimize all aspects of the company's operations, with a primary focus on production and the manual assembly of our robots. Ensuring seamless integration and performance across production, purchasing, supply chain, transport, and facilities, this role requires a strategic leader with a strong operational background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving innovation and efficiency in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
The Operations Director...
- Plans, organizes, and manages optimum day-to-day operations in alignment with company strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Manages the operations budget, controls costs, and triggers corrective actions to achieve company budget goals and to ensure minimal production cost and optimal product quality.
- Regularly schedules and conducts plant meetings with department heads to ensure good coordination of purchasing, production, maintenance, quality, safety, HR, and logistics.
- Carries out continuous research to discover ways to improve on existing operational processes, and utilizes cost-benefit analytical techniques.
- Stays up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts.
- Complies with the goals of Lean and continuous improvements within the company.
- Maintains a clean plant.
- Oversees the hiring and training of operations personnel to ensure a capable workforce and instructs HR responsible accordingly.
- Fosters a well-trained and motivated staff.
- Influences and learns from below.
- Conducts employee performance reviews to provide coaching and guidance.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with unions to ensure a good atmosphere on the production floor.
- Liaises with the Purchasing Department to develop and improve supplier relationships and to ensure a constant flow of material for the factory.
- Delegates and assigns work tasks to production staff to achieve manufacturing targets.
- Oversees the long-term planning, capacity, and occupation to meet targets.
- Ensures timely and effective delivery of goods to clients.
- Maintains accurate inventory and ensures proper storage of received raw materials and finished goods.
- Prepares and submits to upper management regular reports of plant operations.
Qualifications
As an Operations Director, you have/are:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in an operations leadership role within a manufacturing environment of robotics' assembly.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, supply chain management, procurement, and logistics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent long-term strategic planning, short-term problem-solving, and general decision-making skills.
- Dynamic personality able to handle the quickly changing environment of a scale-up company.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain software, and other relevant tools.
