Job Description

The COMMISSIONING ENGINEER is an integral person in helping our customer’s vision for an automated storage solution from Movu US come to life. The core objective is to commission our storage solutions and integrate them with the customer’s warehouse operations.

Solutions: Fully automated storage solutions including pallet shuttles (atlas), tote shuttles (escala), automated mobile robots (ifollow), as well as our ancillary equipment such as conveyors and lifts.

Customers: The end users are typically large consumer goods or pharmaceutical companies mostly located throughout the United States and Canada.

 

As our COMMISSIONING ENGINEER, you…

  • are responsible for the setup, configuration, interfacing, and sometimes, the integration of the complete automated warehouse system
  • interface with Warehouse Control Systems and integrate them into the customer’s IT systems
  • are responsible for the complete commissioning process (preparation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, Go Live, reporting and signoff)
  • are responsible for PLC software configuration and live testing
  • work on electrical, mechanical, PLCs configuration, communication protocols, sensors & instrumentation, and safety devices
  • work at a variety of customer sites, including cold storage facilities and at heights (walking in a rack at different levels, but always with the appropriate safety gear/measures)
  • act as a commissioning expert, supporting on-site and remote troubleshooting during commissioning, go-live, and when assisting Service Engineers during aftersales interventions
  • create and deliver comprehensive reports and technical procedures upon project completion
  • identify and solve technical challenges, providing recommendations for system optimization
  • train the integrators, customer’s maintenance and operative staff
  • share technical expertise with team members and participate in continuous training and skill development
  • identify and report commercial Service opportunities at current clients to management
Qualifications

Technical

  • Experience with installing/commissioning automated systems, ideally in the material handling/automation/robotics field
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical, robotic, and automated systems
  • Ideally you have experience with PLC programming, VFD configuration and/or conveyor systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering, ideally Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or Controls Engineering is required
  • Affinity with programming languages and command line terminal is preferred

Practical

  • You either live in commutable distance to our office in Romeoville, IL, in Northwestern Indiana, or in Indianapolis, IN
  • You’re willing and able to travel to project sites across the USA and Canada consistently; your travel percentage averages 90%
  • Typically, the work week is Monday-Friday but occasional weekend or evening work may be required, especially during the go-live phase and tradeshows
  • We work closely with our European colleagues. Collaboration with international team members during the morning (overlapping hours) is expected. Office hours are 8 am – 5 pm CST, but work hours will vary depending on the assigned project site.
